With Christmas almost upon us, it’s time to stock up on festive wares and wonders. These are the best Christmas markets for just that.

The most wonderful time of the year is just around the corner. It’s a time of celebration, family, good food and of course, presents! And what better place to find them than at the Christmas markets?

From delicious puddings and Christmas cakes to trees, handmade wares and decorations, you’ll find something to make the festivities just that much more special. Here is our guide to the best Christmas markets to visit around the country this December.

Get into the Christmas spirit with hot food stalls, live music and even a visit from Santa. The markets will every Thursday, Friday and Saturday until 23 December from 11 am – 8 pm.

Christmas is set to come alive in all its glory at the Customs House Forecourt in Sydney with Le Jolly Market. Be whisked away to somewhere North, where snow is falling and authentic wood-hut chalets line the streets, full of glorious gifts and wares.

Le Jolly Market is bringing you all this magic and more. Jazz music will fill the air as you peruse locally sourced artisan products, jewellery, toys, spirits, clothes, organic tea and more. There will also be food and drinks to enjoy as you stroll.

Pick up artisanal food and goodies for a cause. Plus, catch some live music!

The monthly Berrima Schoolyard Markets will turn its December event into a Christmas-themed extravaganza. Each market held at the school helps to fund cooking and gardening lessons for the students.

Over 50 stalls will be selling gifts, wreaths, gourmet foods, homewares and clothing. Guests can also look forward to a Christmas raffle, kids’ entertainment and a classic Aussie sausage sizzle.

If you’re looking to gift a loved one something locally and lovingly made this year, CRFT* WRK is the place to go. Usually a monthly contemporary art fair held at Melbourne’s iconic Queen Victoria Market, CRFT* WRK will be dedicated to all things Christmas this December.

Browse stalls touting art, ceramics, jewellery, embroidery, ethical textiles, homewares, artisan perfume and even dog accessories for your furry friend. Head to the C and D shed between 9am and 4pm.

If Santa’s sleigh is running late, head to the Mornington Racecourse Twilight Christmas Market. Held on the second Sunday of every month, the market has a special Christmas-themed edition every December.

Found on the stunning Mornington Peninsula, this makers’ market showcases local handiwork and produce. Expect to find handmade, homemade and homegrown goods that will make for some excellent stocking fillers and thoughtful gifts.

Kids will love the rides, activities and epic street parade, which falls right at dusk. Plus, the big man himself may be making an appearance! Jingle All The Bay will run from 3.30pm to 9pm.

It’s no surprise then that Christkindlmarkt draws on its European traditions. Alongside the markets, attendees can enjoy mulled wine, carols by candlelight, roasted chestnuts, caramel apples and more. The free event will run from 3pm – 10pm each day.
